The Season 1 of East Asia Super League will tip off in early 2023, matching the top eight teams from Greater China, Japan, Korea and the Philippines against each other in a single elimination format. The inaugural home-and-away format of season will commence on the Season 2 in Fall 2023.
Prior to Season 1, EASL has launched an arsenal of original content for fans to see their homegrown Asian star and up-and-coming players in a fun and entertaining way like never before. EASL feature series include: EASL BALLERIFIC, EASL Full-Court Press, EASL Cam, EASL All-Access and EASL Fresh. In addition, EASL has built a large fanbase across various leading social networks, both global and country specific indigenous.
In August 2020, FIBA, the sport’s world governing body, granted exclusive recognition and support through a 10-year formal agreement for EASL to launch and operate a new regional championship for professional clubs in Asia.
EASL has held four successful preseason tournaments from 2017-2019, featuring elite club teams from the top leagues in Asia, including: CBA (China), B.LEAGUE (Japan), KBL (Korea), PBA (Philippines) and SBL (Chinese Taipei).
EASL’s weeklong The Terrific 12 tournament held in Macao in September 2019 featured thrilling basketball competition between a dozen of Asia’s top teams, attracting both sellout live audiences with more than 117 million viewers worldwide.
